Assistant Editor: Bachelor’s in Journalism/Mass Communication, or specified Bachelor’s degree with a one-year Journalism/Mass Communication diploma. Specialist Grade-II: Recognised medical qualification with prescribed PG degree/diploma in Anaesthesiology or Paediatrics. Assistant Public Prosecutor: Degree in Law from a recognised university/institute. Ladakh Law Officer: Bachelor’s degree in Law (Professional/Integrated) from a recognised Indian university, along with the prescribed practice requirement.

Ladakh Law Officer: Minimum 2 years’ actual practice at the Bar, certified by the competent judicial authority.

  • Assistant Editor: 30 years UR; 35 years SC.
  • Specialist Grade-II Anaesthesiology: 50 years for ST.
  • Specialist Grade-II Paediatrics: 45 years for EWS.
  • Assistant Public Prosecutor: 35 years UR/EWS; 38 years OBC; 40 years SC/ST.
  • Ladakh Law Officer: 40 years for ST.

PwBD and other applicable relaxations will be available according to UPSC rules.

Selection Process

UPSC will make the recruitment through Recruitment by Selection. Depending on the number of applications, the Commission may:

  • Shortlist candidates using prescribed criteria
  • Consider higher qualifications or relevant experience
  • Conduct a Recruitment Test (RT), if required
  • Conduct an Interview
  • Verify original documents of shortlisted candidates

The minimum interview suitability level is 50 marks for UR, 45 marks for OBC and 40 marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, as applicable.

Possessing the minimum qualification does not automatically guarantee an interview call or selection.
